Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam hosts Khai Van art program
The “Khai Van” art program was held on the evening of September 12 at the Vuon Giam area within the Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam National Special Relic site. Organized by the Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam Cultural and Scientific Activities Center, the event serves as a precursor to the 950th anniversary of Quoc Tu Giam (1076–2026) and is part of the second Thang Long - Hanoi Festival in 2026.
Directed by designer Minh Hanh, the performance utilized the octagonal house in Vuon Giam as a stage for the first time, incorporating light displays, traditional landscapes, and music to honor Vietnamese academic traditions and cultural values. The program was structured around five core values: “Khai Tam” (opening the heart), “Khai Tri” (expanding knowledge), “Khai Chi” (building ideals), “Khai Nghiep” (contributing through profession), and “Khai Sang” (spreading values to the community).
Musical performances included works such as “Nguoi Ha Noi” by Thanh Lam and Nguyen Thang Long, as well as “Mot trai tim, mot que huong” by People's Artist Thai Bao and saxophonist Bao Anh. Dr. Le Xuan Kieu, Director of the center, stated that the program aims to ensure the 950-year history of Quoc Tu Giam remains a living legacy rather than just a historical memory.
