Jandarma Sergeant Samet Karabulut Killed in Van Traffic Collision

A light commercial vehicle struck a jandarma patrol car from behind on the Van‑Erciş highway, causing a fatal crash. Jandarma Uzman Çavuş Samet Karabulut was killed, and five people were injured – three jandarma personnel and two civilians. Interior Minister Mustafa Çiftçi announced the incident and offered condolences to the family and the armed forces.

Karabulut’s body was transferred to his hometown of Adana, where a military funeral was held at Buruk Cemetery. The ceremony was attended by local officials, including Adana Governor Mustafa Yavuz and Jandarma General Staff Deputy Chief Orgeneral Hulusi Kurtoğlu, as well as thousands of citizens who paid their respects.

The crash is under investigation by authorities.
