Vancouver police investigate shooting and downtown assault
Vancouver police are investigating two separate violent incidents in the city.
On Monday morning, officers responded to reports of a fight and gunshots in a parking lot in the 300 block of SE 192nd Avenue. While no suspects were located at the scene, police recovered blood and numerous shell casings. Shortly after the response, a 19-year-old male arrived at a local hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
In a separate incident in downtown Vancouver, a man sustained serious injuries during a random assault near Nelson and Richards streets. Police report that a visiting couple was walking back to their hotel from a concert when a stranger approached and punched one of them, causing him to hit his head on the pavement. The suspect, described as a white male between 20 and 35 years old, approximately 5’5″ to 5’8″ tall with a medium build and wearing fingerless gloves, fled toward Granville Street and remains at large.
