Violent incidents in Vancouver
Overview
A series of violent incidents has been reported in Vancouver. In early August, a 50-year-old man was charged following four alleged unprovoked assaults in downtown Vancouver that occurred within a 30-minute window. These incidents included a demand for money at a business and physical attacks on pedestrians.
By mid-August, police were investigating additional violence, including a shooting in a parking lot that left a 19-year-old with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. Additionally, a random assault in the downtown area left a visitor with serious injuries after a stranger punched him, causing him to strike his head on the pavement.
