Vancouver Rise FC clinches 2-1 home win over AFC Toronto

On Saturday, May 23, 2026, Vancouver Rise FC earned their first home victory of the season, defeating AFC Toronto 2-1 at Swangard Stadium in Burnaby. Latifah Abdu opened the scoring in the 11th minute, and Quinn added a penalty goal in the 33rd minute. Toronto’s Cloey Uddenberg scored in added time to narrow the margin.

Vancouver held 59% possession and controlled the match, according to head coach Anja Heiner‑Møller. Toronto coach Marko Milanović described his side as “extremely flat” in the first half and said they will analyse the loss. The win marks the second consecutive victory after a three‑game losing streak to start the league campaign. Vancouver Rise FC will travel to Montreal to face the Roses on May 30 and host Ottawa Rapid FC on June 14.

The clubs compete in Canada’s inaugural professional women’s league, the Northern Super League, which launched in 2025 and includes Calgary Wild FC, Halifax Tides FC, Montréal Roses, Ottawa Rapid FC and AFC Toronto.
