Vancouver Whitecaps nearing deal for midfielder Aleksa Cvetkovic

The Vancouver Whitecaps are finalizing a deal to sign Serbian midfielder Aleksa Cvetkovic from OFK Beograd. The transfer is expected to cost approximately $1.5 million. Cvetkovic, 21, will join the club via the MLS U22 Initiative, a mechanism designed to incentivize the signing of young talent with reduced salary cap impacts.

Cvetkovic arrives with significant professional experience, having made 73 first-team appearances for the Belgrade-based club. He is described as a box-to-box midfielder intended to bolster the Whitecaps' midfield following the departure of Sebastian Berhalter.
