Following this, the club moved toward signing Sebastián Ramírez, a 20-year-old defensive midfielder and former Colombia U20 international from Fortaleza FC. Ramírez, a dual citizen of the United States and Colombia, recently underwent medical assessments at the club’s National Soccer Development Centre. These acquisitions follow other recent additions to the squad, including Kwasi Poku.

By late August, the club reportedly moved toward a deal for 26-year-old Angolan international Rui Modesto from the Italian Serie A club Udinese. The transfer fee for Modesto is estimated at approximately €1.8 million. A versatile player capable of acting as a winger, wing-back, or full-back, Modesto is expected to bolster the right side of the pitch for the Whitecaps.
