Vande Bharat Express to connect Surat and Udaipur in 7.5 hours
The Railway Board has approved a new Vande Bharat Express service connecting Surat in Gujarat to Udaipur City in Rajasthan. This new service, designated as train numbers 26903 and 26904, is expected to launch around the Sharadiya Navratri festival starting October 11th.
The new route will significantly reduce travel time between the two cities. While the current Udaipur City-Bandra Superfast Express takes approximately 13 hours to cover the 694 km distance, the Vande Bharat Express is expected to complete the journey in roughly 7 hours and 30 minutes. The service will operate six days a week, with Tuesdays as the scheduled day off.
To facilitate this new route, the existing Udaipur City-Asarva Vande Bharat Express service will be discontinued and replaced by this extended service from Asarva to Surat. The train will consist of eight coaches, with primary maintenance facilities located in Surat and water refilling stations at Vadodara and Asarva. This addition brings the total number of Vande Bharat trains in Gujarat to six.
