Eboli farm to build mausoleum for legendary trotter Varenne

The ashes of Varenne, the legendary trotting horse known as ‘the Captain’, have been returned to the LJ farm in Eboli, Italy. The champion, who passed away at the age of 31, will be interred at the facility where he spent his final years.

This decision honors the wishes of his late owner, Enzo Giordano. Dario De Angelis, owner of the LJ farm, expressed gratitude to the Giordano family for respecting Enzo’s desire to keep the horse at the estate, noting that Varenne loved the farm and the dedication of the staff.

To commemorate the horse’s historic career and status in the Hall of Fame, the farm has announced plans to construct a mausoleum. The project will involve collaborating with sculptors and artists to create a memorial space that will be accessible to the public and enthusiasts.
