Varna considers new municipal entity for urban maintenance

The Varna Municipal Council is considering the establishment of a new municipal entity dedicated to maintaining and improving the urban environment. A specialized working group, including Mayor Blagomir Kotsev and Municipal Council Chairman Hristo Dimitrov, met to discuss the proposal.

The proposed structure, which could be organized as a municipal enterprise or a single-member limited liability company with 100% municipal capital, would manage various public services. These include the maintenance and repair of municipal roads, sidewalks, and infrastructure; upkeep of green spaces, parks, and gardens; waste collection and removal; cleaning of public areas; and winter maintenance.

The initiative aims to provide an alternative to external contractors in cases of non-performance and to allow for more rapid responses to urgent needs. Key objectives include more efficient management, clearer accountability of public resources, increased flexibility, and reduced dependency on external organizations to save time and costs.
