Varna reports nearly 950,000 tourists through September 2026
From the beginning of 2026 until September 25, approximately 949,342 tourists stayed in accommodation facilities within the Varna Municipality, accounting for a total of 4,618,288 overnight stays. These figures were presented by the Varna Municipality Tourism Directorate during the tenth anniversary of the Tourism Expo ‘Destination Varna’.
While absolute values registered in the Unified Tourist Information System (ESTI) show a slight decrease compared to the same period last year, the city maintains a high volume of tourist flow. Significant growth has been observed from several European markets, most notably Hungary with a 213% increase, followed by Slovakia at 65%, Italy at 33%, and Spain at 26%.
When compared to 2024 levels, tourism from Poland, Germany, and Israel has each increased by 11% or more. Additionally, 70% of all overnight stays occurred in 4- and 5-star hotels, and there was a 30% increase in stays within apartments, indicating a shift in consumer preferences.
