Vasco da Gama has announced the signing of defender Gabriel Pereira as their final reinforcement for the current transfer window. Pereira’s professional journey is notable for its unconventional start in amateur street football in Volta Redonda, Rio de Janeiro.

Originally an attacker, the 1.88m player transitioned to defense during a club trial at age 18. After developing through the youth ranks at Volta Redonda, he moved to Europe, playing for Vilafranquense in Portugal, followed by stints at Gil Vicente and Copenhagen in Denmark. The loan deal for the defender could potentially reach a value of 7 million euros (approximately 41 million reais) if specific performance milestones are met.
