Vasilis Kokkas blames Greek government for delayed OSDE 2026 launch

Former deputy minister of Rural Development and Food Vasilis Kokkas criticised the Greek government and the leadership of the Ministry of Rural Development and Food for opening the OSDE 2026 application process only in August. He said the delay left thousands of agricultural producers without clear information, jeopardising their income, financial obligations and production planning.

Kokkas argued that the OSDE system, which underpins farm subsidies, must operate on a reliable timetable and cannot be presented as a "modernisation" when it opens late. He called for the state to provide transparent rules and a stable schedule to avoid repeated uncertainty for farmers facing rising production costs and climate pressures.
