Vaslui County reports surge in vegetation fires

The Vaslui County Inspectorate for Emergency Situations has reported a significant increase in vegetation fires during the first half of August. In the first two weeks of the month, military firefighters extinguished 57 vegetation fires, alongside nine other incidents involving residential buildings, outbuildings, and animal shelters.

On August 9 alone, emergency services responded to 10 separate vegetation fires. Additionally, volunteer services in various communes, including Băcești, Berezeni, and others, managed to extinguish 25 additional fires.

Authorities are urging residents to exercise extreme caution and avoid using open flames for land cleaning or burning agricultural waste. Officials also warned against discarding lit cigarettes in dry areas and cautioned against lighting fires near forests, crops, or dry vegetation to prevent further environmental and property damage.
