Vassily Kandinsky exhibition to open at Palazzo Bonaparte in Rome

A major exhibition dedicated to the Russian artist Vassily Kandinsky will be held at Palazzo Bonaparte in Rome from September 15, 2026, to February 14, 2027. Produced by Arthemisia in collaboration with the Centre Pompidou, the event features over 70 works sourced from international museums.

The exhibition traces Kandinsky’s artistic evolution from his early figurative works through his time in Munich, the Bauhaus movement, and his final years in France. It highlights his transition toward abstract painting, exploring how color and form can communicate emotion and music without representing physical objects.

Key figures in Kandinsky’s life, including his partner Gabriele Munter and his wife Nina Kandinsky, will be featured. The exhibition includes works by Munter that are being shown for the first time. The involvement of the Centre Pompidou is particularly significant, as the institution prepares for long-term restoration work, making Rome a primary international hub for viewing these masterworks.
