Vaux-en-Beaujolais vineyard accident kills teenager and injures nine

A fatal accident occurred on Saturday, August 22, at a vineyard in Vaux-en-Beaujolais, in the Rhône department of France. A 17-year-old grape harvester was killed, and nine other men were injured when a tractor and its trailer overturned.

The incident happened mid-day when the tractor stalled while climbing a slope. As the vehicle stalled, the trailer, which was carrying ten people, tipped over. Among the nine injured, two are reported to be in serious condition; one was evacuated by emergency helicopter to a specialized medical facility. The other victims were transported to hospitals in Lyon, Arnas, and Villefranche-sur-Saône.

Local gendarmerie have opened an investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the accident, focusing on the condition of the equipment and the sequence of events leading to the rollover.
