Vaux-en-Beaujolais vineyard accident kills teenager and injures nine

A fatal accident occurred on Saturday, August 22, at a vineyard in Vaux-en-Beaujolais, in the Rhône department of France. A 17-year-old grape harvester was killed, and nine other men were injured when a tractor and its trailer overturned.

The incident happened mid-day when the tractor stalled while climbing a slope. As the vehicle stalled, the trailer, which was carrying ten people, tipped over. Among the nine injured, two are reported to be in serious condition; one was evacuated by emergency helicopter to a specialized medical facility. The other victims were transported to hospitals in Lyon, Arnas, and Villefranche-sur-Saône.

Local gendarmerie have opened an investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the accident, focusing on the condition of the equipment and the sequence of events leading to the rollover. This incident highlights ongoing safety concerns in the agricultural sector, where tractor rollovers remain a leading cause of fatalities.
