Vazrazhdane party rejects VSS election quota for GERB and DPS
Kostadin Kostadinov, leader of the Vazrazhdane party, announced that the party will only support candidates for the Supreme Judicial Council (VSS) who fall outside the parliamentary quotas allocated to GERB and DPS. Speaking in an interview with BNT, Kostadinov stated that the party refuses to participate in an election process that includes representatives from these two political formations, a position the party has maintained since 2021.
The vote for the new VSS composition is scheduled for November 19, where each member must be elected individually with a majority of at least 160 votes. The current VSS mandate has expired, which has limited the council's powers and blocked decisions regarding judicial career advancements and initial magistrate appointments.
Kostadinov also commented on a recently passed bill regarding the Bulgarian language. He expressed support for the legislation, which aims to restrict the use of duplicate foreign language inscriptions on public buildings, distinguishing between necessary transliteration for names and locations and the use of Latin characters for Bulgarian words.
