Václav Havel photography exhibition opens in Prague

The Czech News Agency (ČTK) has launched a photography exhibition titled ‘Foto ČTK: Havel’ at the Fragment Gallery in Prague. The exhibition commemorates the 90th anniversary of Václav Havel’s birth and the 15th anniversary of his death.

Developed in collaboration with Czech Photo, the display features twenty large-format prints alongside dozens of additional agency photographs presented on three electronic screens. The digital collection is categorized into three themes: domestic political events, Havel’s activities within the dissident movement, and significant figures he encountered during his life.

Petr Mlch, head of the ČTK Photo Bank, noted that the exhibition is unique because it utilizes purely reportage photography from official events that often captures intimate or private moments. The collection includes historical images ranging from Havel’s work at a brewery in 1975 to his travels in Bangkok in 1990. The exhibition is scheduled to run until February 7.
