Víctor Jara's work nominated for Latin Grammy

The soundtrack for the Amazon Prime series ‘La casa de los espíritus’, based on the novel by Isabel Allende, has been nominated for Best Music for Visual Media at the 2026 Latin Grammy Awards. The nomination includes the work of the late Chilean musician Víctor Jara through the composition ‘Deja la vida volar’, which was reinterpreted by Manuel García.

The announcement coincided with the 53rd anniversary of Jara's death. Recent biographical research by historian Mario Amorós has also clarified long-standing debates regarding Jara's birthplace; while many sources previously cited Ñuble or Chillán Viejo, Civil Registry documentation indicates he was born in Santiago on September 28, 1932.
