Argentina July 2026 auto market sees 30% drop in new car registrations
In July 2026 Argentina’s new‑car registrations fell 30.6% year‑on‑year to 43,758 units, a 7.7% decline from June. The cumulative total for January‑July was 339,359, down 12.8% from the same period in 2025. Toyota led the market with 7,101 registrations, followed by Fiat (5,244) and Volkswagen (5,073).
Used‑car sales also slipped, with 156,810 vehicles sold in July, a 12.5% fall from July 2025 but a modest 0.85% rise from June. The year‑to‑date total reached 1,048,438, 4.5% lower than a year earlier. Top used models included the Volkswagen Gol/Trend, Toyota Hilux and Chevrolet Corsa.
Motorcycle registrations surged 30.4% year‑on‑year, reaching 71,217 units in July and 511,986 for the first seven months, a 41.9% increase. Honda remained the market leader with 15,209 units.
Importers recorded 5,333 new‑car registrations, with BYD topping the list at 996 units. Industry leaders called for fiscal incentives to support the sector amid the sharp slowdown.
