Veneto Region to remove discriminatory social housing residency criteria
The Veneto Region has formally acknowledged a ruling from the Court of Appeal of Venice which determined that criteria based on long-term residency for social housing rankings are discriminatory. This decision requires the Region and the Municipality of Venice to implement a plan to remove these discriminatory practices and update regional regulations. The ruling affects the entire Veneto region, meaning all municipalities and housing agencies (Ater) must apply consistent, non-discriminatory criteria in new rankings.
In other regional developments, Ulss 8 Berica has approved the selection of third-sector entities to participate in the co-design phase for strengthening family centers. This initiative aims to enhance social services provided by family counseling centers in the Vicenza area. Additionally, approximately 80 operators from Veneto are participating in a forest fire prevention campaign in Calabria, organized by the Veneto Region.
