Venezuela and Honduras Boost Coffee Exports in 2026

Venezuela activated its new dry‑port facility in the state of Mérida, enabling the export of 19.2 tonnes of specialty coffee to Belgium and the United States. Governor Arnaldo Sánchez said the move, coordinated with the national government and local producers, streamlines customs, military inspections and tax certifications, supporting the region’s diversification away from oil.

In Honduras, the coffee exporters’ association reported that 7.08 million quintals of coffee left the country by the end of July 2026, surpassing the 6.7 million‑quintal target by 380,000 quintals and marking a 23 % year‑on‑year increase. Export value reached US$2.224 billion, with the United States accounting for 32.9 % of shipments, followed by Germany (16.7 %) and Belgium (10.8 %). Europe absorbed 51.4 % of Honduras’s coffee exports.
