Venezuela celebrates Burriquitas and Pollinos traditions
Traditional dances including Burriquitas and Pollinos were celebrated in Caracas following their official recognition as City Cultural Heritage by the Libertador Bolivarian Municipality and the Government of Caracas. The event, which also marked the start of the Christmas festivities, featured a parade involving cultural schools and practitioners from 22 parishes.
In Maracaibo, a large parade was held in the historic center to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the Burriquitas tradition being declared National Cultural Heritage. The event brought together delegations from six municipalities, including Maracaibo, San Francisco, Mara, Lagunillas, Santa Rita, and Cabimas. Local cultural representatives stated that efforts are underway to seek UNESCO recognition for the tradition as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
