Venezuela establishes maritime fuel supply alliance in the Caribbean
Venezuela is positioning itself as a strategic maritime fuel supply hub in the Caribbean through a new commercial agreement. The state-owned Bolivariana de Puertos (Bolipuertos) has partnered with Impordiesel and TFG Marine, a division of Trafigura, to facilitate marine fuel bunkering services.
The agreement focuses on implementing Ship-to-Ship (STS) operations, utilizing supply vessels and barges to deliver fuel directly to international and coastal vessels. The service will provide three types of fuel: Marine Gas Oil (MGO), Very Low Sulphur Fuel Oil (VLSFO), and High Sulphur Fuel Oil (HSFO).
All operations are designed to comply with MARPOL Annex VI and IMO 2020 regulations. Officials stated that this initiative aims to modernize port infrastructure and expand the portfolio of services available to international maritime traffic passing through the region.
