Venezuela implements tax reforms with permanent RIF registration

Venezuela is implementing tax modernization measures through the National Integrated Service of Customs and Tax Administration (SENIAT). Under Administrative Provision SNAT/2026/00080, the Tax Information Registry (RIF) no longer features a visible expiration date, eliminating the previous requirement for taxpayers to renew the document every three years.

While the digital RIF certificate remains valid indefinitely if information is unchanged, taxpayers are still legally obligated to update their records within one month of any changes to personal, fiscal, or legal data, such as changes in domicile, corporate name, or board of directors. The new format includes a QR code to allow real-time authenticity verification by authorities and third parties.

As part of a broader push toward digitalization, the government is phasing out the requirement to display physical tax boards in commercial establishments in favor of digital verification. Additionally, the integration of SENIAT systems with the registry (SAREN) and the banking sector aims to automate notary procedures, streamline tax payments, and enhance digital fiscal oversight.
