Venezuela launches nationwide recreation vacation plan for 3 million children

On 1 August 2026, Venezuelan President Del Cy Rodríguez inaugurated the "Venezuela Ríe 2026" National Vacation Recreation Plan, aiming to reach three million children across the country. The program deploys nine thousand recreators in 5 336 community circuits and 107 temporary camps for displaced families, offering sports, cultural, and psychological activities for children, adolescents, seniors and heads of households.

In the state of Nueva Esparta, Governor Marisel Velásquez opened the regional rollout at the Paseo de los Pescadores in Tubores, coordinating with local mayor Dignysbel Figueroa and the Integral Recreation Network. More than 300 volunteers, therapists and artists will operate in 75 communal circuits and six high‑impact sites, providing games, tournaments, workshops and artistic events from Monday to Thursday in community spaces and from Friday to Sunday at the designated plazas.

The plan also includes a prize scheme announced by Vice‑President Héctor Rodríguez, awarding trips to Margarita, Apure, Amazonas and Falcón for the top‑scoring children, and integrates family‑wide support such as psychological care and nature‑education activities.
