Venezuela orders unblocking of digital platforms following political dialogue

The Venezuelan government has ordered the unblocking of various digital platforms and news portals following political dialogue between the administration and opposition members. Delcy Rodríguez, acting president, directed the immediate lifting of restrictions as part of efforts to promote freedom of expression and access to information.

Conatel, the national telecommunications regulator, has formally instructed internet service providers (ISPs) to implement the necessary technical adjustments to restore access. While the government frames this as a step toward democratic coexistence, the specific list of unblocked platforms has not been officially detailed.

Monitoring by the NGO VE Sin Filtro indicates partial progress, reporting that approximately 47 web domains have been unblocked across different providers such as Inter, Digitel, and Movistar. However, the organization warns that significant censorship persists, noting that at least 177 domains, including many independent news outlets, remain inaccessible. The National Union of Press Workers (SNTP) acknowledged the progress but emphasized that more concrete actions are needed, specifically regarding the renewal of radio concessions and the dismissal of judicial cases against journalists.
