Venezuela Ministry of University Education meets students to draft new law

Authorities from Venezuela’s Ministry of University Education met with student federations at the Universidad Católica Andrés Bello to establish a collaborative roadmap for developing a new University Law.

Minister Ana María Sanjuán and Vice Minister Génesis Garvett participated in the dialogue, which aims to address community needs and build the new legal framework democratically. Officials clarified that no draft of the law currently exists and that the text will be constructed through mutual agreement involving all universities and student representatives.

The ministry emphasized that the goal is to transform the university system from the ground up while maintaining focus on urgent daily issues affecting students, such as ensuring conditions for enrollment, retention, and graduation.
