Venezuela Ombudsman Hails Recent Releases in PDVSA‑Amuay Case

Venezuelan Defensoría del Pueblo chief Eglée González Lobato announced that recent excarcelaciones of workers detained in the PDVSAAmuay case represent a positive step for procedural guarantees and human‑rights respect. In meetings with families of those prosecuted across Anzoátegui, Falcón, La Guaira and Caracas, the ombudsman noted that the releases reinforce institutional dialogue and pledged continued support for the mothers, wives and relatives of employees still awaiting judicial resolution.

González Lobato affirmed the Defensoría’s commitment to keep its doors open and to activate all available mechanisms to evaluate pending cases, emphasizing ongoing accompaniment for families throughout the legal process.
