Venezuela poultry sector grows 12% in 2026
The Venezuelan poultry sector has experienced a 12% growth in the first half of 2026 compared to the same period in 2025, according to Francisco Tagliapietra, president of the National Federation of Poultry of Venezuela (Fenavi).
Monthly egg production has reached an average of 1.16 million boxes, up from approximately 1.05 million boxes in the previous year. By July 2026, production figures exceeded 1.2 million boxes per month, representing a per capita consumption of 200 units per person. Tagliapietra noted that 100% of the protein consumed in the country, including chicken and eggs, is produced domestically, ensuring full supply across supermarkets, wholesalers, and small retailers.
Regarding market fluctuations, Tagliapietra explained that price decreases occur when overproduction leads to full warehouses and slowed inventory rotation, particularly during holiday periods when consumption drops. He indicated that prices are currently beginning to stabilize. Additionally, the sector is exploring export opportunities through the National Council of Poultry Exports.
