Venezuela poultry sector production growth
Overview
The Venezuelan poultry sector is undergoing a period of significant growth and recovery. In the first half of 2026, the sector saw a 12% increase compared to the same period in 2025. Monthly egg production rose from an average of 1.05 million boxes in the previous year to over 1.2 million boxes by July 2026. Francisco Tagliapietra, president of the National Federation of Poultry of Venezuela (Fenavi), stated that 100% of the country’s poultry protein is now produced domestically, ensuring full supply across various retail levels.
Annual production has climbed from 200,000 tons in 2018 to over 800,000 tons currently. Fenavi projects that the industry could reach an annual capacity of 1.5 million tons within the next three years.
To expand beyond domestic supply, the federation has proposed establishing a National Poultry Export Council to coordinate public and private efforts. While domestic facilities are reported to meet international standards, the sector faces challenges regarding packaging and transport requirements necessary for global markets.
