Venezuela releases political prisoners in PDVSA case
Venezuelan authorities have freed a total of 25 individuals linked to the PDVSA political‑prisoner case. Eight workers were released following confirmation by the civil society group Clippve, while a separate action saw 17 detainees exit the Yare penitentiary. Families and acquaintances gathered for emotional reunions as the former inmates left the facility.
Human‑rights groups noted that, although the releases represent a step toward alleviating the broader issue of political incarcerations in the country, they consider the measures insufficient given the larger number of detainees involved in the PDVSA case.
