Venezuela residents face severe water shortages and utility crises

Residents in various sectors of Venezuela are facing severe disruptions to essential public services, specifically regarding water access and infrastructure.

In Puerto Cabello, more than 250 families in the Uva de Playa sector of the Parque Residencial Vistamar urbanisation have been without running water for 15 days. Residents report that the scarcity has been a recurring issue for six months, forcing many to purchase expensive water from tanker trucks at costs between 12 and 13 dollars per thousand liters. The crisis reportedly extends to adjacent sectors such as Bucares, Samanes, and Villamar, affecting nearly 500 families. This water shortage is compounded by frequent electricity blackouts lasting at least six hours and irregularities in gas supplies.

In Maracay, Aragua state, residents of the Andrés Bello urbanisation are reporting a persistent water leak. The continuous accumulation of water on the streets is causing difficulties for pedestrians and drivers, while residents express concern over potential health risks from humidity and the paradox of seeing potable water wasted while many buildings in the area lack permanent service.
