Venezuela strengthens regional healthcare with medical supplies and pacemaker implants

The Venezuelan public health system has implemented several medical strengthening initiatives across the states of Aragua and Mérida.

In Aragua, the Centro Docente Cardiológico Bolivariano has performed 152 free pacemaker implantations this year. These procedures were facilitated through the ‘1x10 del Buen Vivir’ platform. According to Joaquín Crespo, director general of the cardiology center, patients undergo a rigorous clinical protocol involving electrophysiology evaluations and preoperative exams before receiving the minimally invasive surgery.

In Mérida, authorities have delivered a significant shipment of medical supplies and equipment to strengthen the regional hospital network. Governor Arnaldo Sánchez reported the distribution of 348 medical-surgical devices and over 361,000 medical supplies, including disposable materials and medications. The equipment includes anesthesia machines, respirators, monitors, and ultrasound machines, intended for distribution across thirteen hospitals to improve surgical interventions in general surgery, gynecology, and pediatrics.
