Venezuela implements tax reforms and advances political dialogue
Acting President Delcy Rodríguez has announced significant economic and political developments in Venezuela. On the economic front, the government has suspended the mandatory use of fiscal machines for commercial establishments to facilitate the formalization of small and medium-sized businesses. Additionally, the list of special taxpayers has been restructured, reducing the number from over 132,000 to approximately 40,000–44,000. These tax reforms are supported by a new data interconnection system linking the tax administration (Seniat) with the Central Bank of Venezuela, the banking sector, Saren, and Saime. Tax revenue increases are reportedly being directed toward social programs, including housing, health, education, and reconstruction efforts following the June 24 seismic events.
In the political sphere, the third cycle of the national dialogue between the government and opposition delegations has concluded. The talks, which include representatives such as Jorge Rodríguez and Dinorah Figuera, have focused on political guarantees, the reform of repressive laws, and the management of Venezuelan gold held at the Bank of England. The United States has expressed support for these discussions as a means to facilitate a democratic transition. A fourth round of negotiations is scheduled to take place in November.
Furthermore, Venezuela reported a significant increase in oil production, reaching 1,252,000 barrels per day, driven by strategic agreements with the U.S.-based firm North American Blue Energy Partners (Nabep).
