Venezuela to partner with Japan's Kawatek for bionic technology
Venezuela is set to sign an agreement with the Japanese company Kawatek to implement bionic technology for the rehabilitation of amputees. The partnership, announced by Vice President Delcy Rodríguez, aims to provide advanced prosthetics to individuals who lost limbs, specifically targeting victims of recent seismic events and those affected by incidents on January 3.
The cooperation will be executed in phases, beginning with upper limb prosthetics followed by lower limbs. Beyond immediate medical assistance, the agreement includes technological transfer and the establishment of a scientific and technological development center in Venezuela to strengthen national rehabilitation capabilities.
Government officials stated that the program will utilize existing census data to prioritize cases, including children, through the reactivation of specialized orthotics and prosthetics laboratories.
