Venezuela and U.S. advance political dialogue and economic cooperation
Venezuela and the United States are advancing diplomatic and economic engagement through two parallel tracks. A second round of political dialogue between the Venezuelan government, led by Jorge Rodríguez, and an opposition faction supported by the U.S., led by Dinorah Figuera, has been extended until Friday, September 25. These talks have focused on freedom of expression, the right to information, and the renewal of Supreme Tribunal of Justice magistrates. There are reports regarding a potential agreement to transfer $4 billion in gold reserves from the Bank of England to the Federal Reserve of New York to address earthquake recovery needs.
Simultaneously, Venezuelan Foreign Minister Félix Plasencia met with U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere and Latin American Affairs Juan Pablo Segura. The meeting focused on bilateral investment and Venezuela’s role in regional energy stability. Segura described the encounter as a “step forward” within a three-phase plan by the Trump administration to promote political stability and economic development in Venezuela, highlighting the strategic role of U.S. private companies in the country’s industrial and energy recovery.
