Venezuela warned of Tropical Wave 31 arrival with widespread rain forecast

The Instituto Nacional de Meteorología e Hidrología (INAMEH) issued a warning on Monday, 27 July 2026 that Tropical Wave No. 31, moving at about 27 km/h, will enter Venezuelan territory within hours. The system is currently positioned over the northeast of Suriname, while Tropical Wave No. 30 is completing its passage across the western part of the country.

INAMEH’s 24‑hour forecast calls for partly cloudy skies with scattered clear intervals in the morning across most of Venezuela, but predicts cloud‑laden conditions and rain or drizzle in the Guayana Esequiba, eastern Sucre, Bolívar, Amazonas, central mountains, Cojedes, Apure, Barinas, Portuguesa, Lara, Falcón, the Andes and Zulia. In the afternoon and night, widespread cloud cover with variable‑intensity precipitation is expected in those same regions plus the western Llanos, again without ruling out rain along the north‑central coast. Caracas is expected to see cloud cover and intermittent rain during the early hours, followed by continued cloudiness and scattered showers through the day, with a reduced chance of rain late at night.
