Venezuela weather alert: Tropical waves bring rain and heat
The National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (Inameh) has issued weather alerts for Venezuela as multiple tropical waves affect the region. Tropical wave 38 is currently moving over the northeast of the country, bringing variable intensity rainfall, electrical discharges, and wind gusts to states including Delta Amacuro, Monagas, Sucre, and Anzoátegui. Cloud development is also expected to cause precipitation in parts of Zulia, Trujillo, Mérida, and Táchira.
Looking ahead, Inameh forecasts the arrival of tropical wave 39 in the Guayana Esequiba between August 21 and 22, traveling at 27 km/h. Tropical wave 40, currently off the coast of Africa, is expected to reach the country between August 26 and 27, moving at 18 km/h.
In addition to the tropical waves, the forecast includes high temperatures reaching up to 38°C in Coro and the Guayana Esequiba, and the presence of light concentrations of Saharan dust in the atmosphere.
