Venezuela weather: Tropical Wave 55 to bring increased rainfall
The National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (Inameh) has announced that Tropical Wave No. 55 is expected to reach Venezuelan territory, specifically the Guayana Esequiba region, in the coming hours. This system is interacting with the Intertropical Convergence Zone and the monsoon trough, which is expected to increase cloud cover and precipitation across several regions of the country.
Forecasts indicate that while the morning may see partially cloudy to clear skies, rain of variable intensity accompanied by electrical activity is expected during the afternoon and evening. The most frequent and intense rainfall is predicted for the states of Amazonas, Bolívar, Monagas, Delta Amacuro, Lara, Zulia, as well as the Los Llanos Occidentales, Los Andes, and Guayana Esequiba regions. In Caracas, cloud cover is expected to increase after midday with scattered showers possible in the western part of the capital.
Additionally, Inameh is monitoring the El Niño phenomenon, which is projected to persist with a high probability of causing a rainfall deficit in Venezuela. Technical analyses suggest this event could be among the most intense recorded since 1950.
