Venezuelan crowds rally against US and Israel on Simón Bolívar's birthday
On 24 July, the anniversary of Simón Bolívar’s birth, organized gatherings took place in Caracas’s Plaza Bolívar and other Bolívar squares across Venezuela. The events, promoted by the Verbo Rebelde platform and supported by left‑wing intellectuals such as Néstor Kohan, Iñaki Gil and Ramón Grosfoguel, called for anti‑imperialist unity and condemned perceived US and Israeli interference.
Participants chanted slogans like “Yanquis fuera de Venezuela” and burned American and Israeli flags while expressing solidarity with Cuba, Iran and Palestine. The protests were framed as a defense of national sovereignty and popular power, invoking Bolívar’s historical criticism of the United States.
The rallies were largely symbolic, marking a national holiday and voicing opposition to foreign influence rather than prompting immediate policy changes.
