Álvaro Serrano earns Puerta Grande at Las Ventas as bull heritage exhibition opens

During the second week of the Feria de San Isidro, Madrid‑born novillero Álvaro Serrano impressed spectators at Las Ventas by cutting two ears and exiting through the Puerta Grande. Commentators highlighted his bold, lion‑like approach and praised the quality of the Montealto cattle that challenged him.

At the same venue, the Community of Madrid inaugurated a photographic exhibition titled “El Toro bravo, joya de nuestro patrimonio ecológico y cultural”. Organized with the Real Unión de Criadores de Toros de Lidia, the show presents the bull as a guardian of the dehesa’s biodiversity, stressing its role in maintaining open landscapes that support a range of flora and fauna. The exhibition runs through 17 May. Separate events at Las Ventas also included the presentation of the second‑phase posters for the Copa Chenel, featuring nine classified matadors who will compete for spots in the semifinal round.
