Venezuelan Minister Alfred Ñáñez leads oil spill inspection and reforestation volunteer drive

Venezuelan Minister of Ecosocialism Alfred Nazaret Ñáñez visited Güiria in Sucre state on 13 May to inspect the impact of an oil spill from Trinidad and Tobago in the Gulf of Paria. He coordinated an inter‑institutional operation that included the National Institute of Aquatic Spaces, the navy, regional authorities and volunteer brigades, and called on Trinidad and Tobago to provide full information on the spill and mitigation protocols.

In a separate meeting with environmental groups and the press, Ñáñez announced an open call for volunteers to join the second phase of the National Reforestation Plan, urging participants to help with tree‑planting activities across the country.
