Venezuelan municipal health campaigns deliver free surgeries and nutrition aid

The municipal government of Petit in Falcón state organised a comprehensive health day for the La Vega community, offering paediatric check‑ups, maternal supplements, free medication and a food‑distribution programme that provided subsidised fish protein and nutritional combos.

In Zulia, the free‑surgery plan has been expanded to several municipalities. San Francisco reported 2,000 cataract operations since the programme began in 2025 and aims for 3,000 procedures this year, adding cardiovascular catheterisations and pacemaker implants. Cabimas held a cleft‑lip and palate surgery session for five children, supported by the national health ministry, regional government and a local charity. Mara’s San Rafael hospital performed 18 additional surgeries, bringing its annual total to 278. All initiatives are coordinated with regional health authorities and national ministries to provide cost‑free medical care to vulnerable residents.
