Venezuelan Opposition Leaders Discuss Dialogue Process Ahead of August 1

Opposition figures María Corina Machado and Edmundo González Urrutia met with the Platform Unitaria Democrática (PUD) to assess a dialogue framework that Venezuela's parliament announced will start on 1 August. The meeting, arranged after a series of contacts that began on 18 June, seeks to gather information and define a public stance on the proposed process aimed at strengthening democracy and addressing the country’s political crisis.

Separately, Acción Democrática leader Henry Ramos Allup warned that the PUD will not join any negotiation unless all opposition groups are represented, emphasizing that Machado must be included in any talks. He stressed the need for a broad, inclusive opposition platform to avoid fractures and to ensure future elections are competitive and transparent.
