Venezuelan opposition proposes unity pact and electoral roadmap
Venezuelan opposition leaders are advancing proposals to facilitate a political transition and establish a roadmap for upcoming elections. Enrique Márquez, leader of the ‘Pacto por Venezuela’ initiative, stated that elections are expected soon and emphasized the need for a new National Electoral Council (CNE) and an open electoral registry.
Márquez also highlighted the urgent need to address the national electricity crisis, advocating for a return to a decentralized model and increased private investment to correct current management failures. He expressed confidence that the country is on the right path toward stabilization.
Simultaneously, the Plataforma Unitaria Democrática (PUD) announced plans to present a National Unity Agreement. This proposal aims to unite democratic leadership and various social sectors to coordinate opposition efforts during the transition. The PUD is calling for the ongoing dialogue between certain opposition figures and the government to yield verifiable results, specifically the appointment of an independent CNE and a reliable electoral schedule.
