Venezuelan Tren de Aragua member extradited to Chile for murders of Ronald Ojeda and police officer Emmanuel Sánchez
Dayonis Junior Orozco Castillo, a Venezuelan member of the criminal organization Tren de Aragua, was transferred to Chile on Thursday after being extradited from Colombia. Colombian police captured Orozco in Popayán on 23 April 2024 following a flight that took him through Bolivia, Peru and Ecuador.
In Chile he will face trial for his alleged role in the kidnapping and killing of Venezuelan dissident Ronald Ojeda and for the fatal shooting of Carabineros officer Emmanuel Sánchez. Prosecutor Héctor Barros highlighted the rapid completion of the extradition as a milestone in the fight against transnational organized crime, noting that the Tren de Aragua operates across Venezuela, Colombia, Peru, Bolivia and Chile.
