Venezuela’s interim President Delcy Rodríguez congratulates Colombia’s new president

On 24 June 2026, during the 205th anniversary of the Battle of Carabobo, Venezuela’s interim president Delcy Rodríguez said the country recognizes “the sovereign will of the people of Colombia” and congratulated Abelardo De La Espriella on his victory in the Colombian presidential election. She urged a step forward in bilateral relations, emphasizing historic brotherhood and a desire for respect, cooperation and friendship between the two nations. The commemorations were held at the General Command of the Bolivarian Army and were attended by senior cabinet members and senior military officials of the Venezuelan Armed Forces.
