Venezuela's Ministry of Health launches Venezuelan Sign Language training

Venezuela’s Ministry of Health (MinSalud) has partnered with the Vanessa Peretti Foundation to launch a seven-week training program in Venezuelan Sign Language (LSV). The initiative aims to improve social inclusion and eliminate communication barriers within the National Public Health System.

The program began at the ministry’s headquarters in Caracas with administrative staff. According to Yunior López, the national director of Attention to Persons with Disabilities, the training will occur in two phases. The first phase focuses on sensitizing administrative areas, while the second phase will expand to hospitals nationwide to train medical, nursing, and operational staff.
