Venezuela’s Mérida region ships first 19.2 tonnes of specialty coffee to Belgium

For the first time, 19.2 tonnes of specialty coffee produced in the Andean state of Mérida, Venezuela, were exported to Belgium. The shipment left from the dry port of the Mérida customs complex on behalf of the local firm Triángulo de Mocotíes and will be handled in Belgium by the Belgo‑Venezuelan exporter Origin2U. Governor Arnaldo Sánchez highlighted the role of regional logistics, the single‑window “Taquilla Única” system and the support of national authorities in simplifying export procedures.

The cargo brings the state's total coffee exports in the past year to about 540 tonnes, moved in 23 containers, and is presented as a step toward expanding Venezuelan agricultural presence in European markets while boosting local incomes for coffee growers in Mérida.
